Immunization and vaccines are one of the most effective public health interventions, preventing an estimated 2 to 3 million deaths every year. If stored improperly, vaccines lose their effectiveness and can do nothing against the illness they’re intended to counteract. These cold box vaccine carriers keep vaccines stored at the appropriate temperature from the moment they leave the facility where they’re made to the moment they’re administered. Insulated and lined with ice packs to keep the vaccines at the required temperature for up to two days, these cold boxes can hold up to 1,000 doses of certain kinds of vaccinations and can be carried by a single MSF staff.
